Explore the history of Pipe Spring National Monument. In the 19th century people of the Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, known as Mormons, and the United States government encountered one another in this place. They wrestled with their differences and left a story of lasting importance. The monument was proclaimed in 1923 as one of the earliest National Park sites set aside for its cultural and historic value.
